Abstract/Summary:
The electronic Raman effect has been explored in rare earth tetragonal phosphate crystals with a cw argon-ion laser. The goal of the work is to contribute to the understanding of the properties of rare earth ions in crystals, both with respect to their interaction with the solid, and their interaction with a radiation field.;The second effort is directed towards the study of the strong resonance enhancement of the electronic Raman transitions of ;Finally, the spectra of the ytterbium phosphate crystals are described.
