Abstract/Summary:
The contents of the dissertation cover the following topics: (i) Computerized inspection of gear tooth surfaces; (ii) Computerized minimization of irregularities and deviations of tooth surfaces by correction of initially applied machine-tool settings for the improvement of precision of surface manufacture; (iii) Straddle design of spiral bevel gears and hypoid pinions and gears that enable to provide the pinion (gear) with an integral shaft; (iv) Generation of face-hobbed gears and analytical representation of their tooth surfaces.; The solution to the abovementioned problems is based on the following theory that has been developed in the dissertation: (a) Investigation of meshing of the tool surface with the tooth surface being generated and derivation of equations of the theoretical tooth surface; (b) Determination of deviations of theoretical tooth surface caused by errors of machine-tool settings; (c) Detection of collision of the tool surface with the being generated surface and conditions of avoidance of such collision; (d) Theoretical aspects of generation of face-hobbed gears.; The developed theory and its application have been complemented with the development of computer programs for all parts of the thesis.
