Abstract/Summary:
In order to achieve the goal of developing a concise methodology for guitar transcription, the author studied Franz Joseph Haydn's Violoncello Concerto in C Major (Hob. VIIb: 1) as well as Dr. Kenneth Keaton's guitar transcription of the same work. Another step was to transcribe a short piano piece by Haydn in order to gain personal experience in the transcription process.;The above procedures as well as the findings of the author's research resulted in the development of four basic guidelines for guitar transcription: (I) Key Selection, (II) Harmonic Analysis, (III) Applying Guitaristic Techniques, and (IV) Scoring and Notation.
