| The number of security breaches and the cost of damages are increasing year after year. There was an increase of 62 percent in security breaches alone in 2013 with over 552 million identities being exposed (Symantec, 2014, p. 5). On average a data breach can cost a corporation ;The purpose of this research was to analyze the security considerations in the development of applications. This research is important because more attacks are being committed through web applications. All user information whether it's sensitive or non-sensitive is now digitalized and be accessed through web applications. More attacks are taking place on web applications and not enough is being done to prevent user information from being compromised. The results reveal the different roles in development teams and their responsibilities yet none have any security testing responsibilities. Standards in foreign nations are much stricter and implemented on a global scale compared to the standards and regulations in the United States.;The research concluded that congress needs to pass stricter cyber security laws requiring all companies and agencies to protect U.S. residents' data. More training needs to be provided for development teams and Human Resources should make secure coding and web application security training mandatory compliance.
