| Current studies indicate a rising trend of technology usage by children in the classrooms and at home. Standards are revised to include technology into curricula. This study looked at the perspectives of parents and teachers of children ages 2--12 on technology usage and media consumption in Canton, China. Survey questions revolved around general usage of technology by teachers and parents, how they believe technology can hinder or support children's development, and how they view technology being used by children in an ideal situation. Results show that parents are eager to see the use of technology leading to globalization but also share strong concerns that technology can cause. Teachers also enjoy the door of knowledge that technology opens to but are frequently frustrated by the lack of training or malfunctioning.;Keywords: Technology, China, Children, Teachers, Parents. |
