Abstract/Summary:
Previous worldwide nuclear incidents highlight the extreme necessity of nuclear risk communication. In spite of recent improvements in nuclear safety, the destructive outcome of a nuclear accident is considerable enough to dedicate a considerable amount of attention to the risk communication. Since not all risk communications are successful, evaluating the risk communication is an essential part of the risk management. Without evaluating the risk communication, the risk itself may be intensified (Fischhhoff, 2009). The present research, with an evaluative approach, aimed to assess the efficiency of the risk communication conducted by the Arkansas nuclear power plant, also known as Arkansas Nuclear One. The ultimate goal of this study was to find out if the residents of Russellville, AR, take the risk communication conducted by ANO seriously or not, and to illuminate the weakness and strength of the risk communication conducted by ANO. For this purpose, data was collected through surveys. The research participants were random residents of Russellville, Ar. Data was analyzed via quantitative methods.
