With the development and progress of technology and industry,photonic crystal fiber is studied by more and more scholars by its excellent performance and good prospects.The structure of photonic crystal fiber has been optimized to simplify the fabrication processes and improve the performance of optical devices based on photonic crystal fiber.High birefringence and material filling can be used to design many excellent photonic crystal fiber devices,especially in polarizing devices and sensors.In this paper,three new photonic devices based on photonic crystal fiber are designed by using the finite element method and beam propagation method.By learning the principle of photonic devices and widely read literature,the work of the following contents have completed:(1)The background of photonic crystal fiber is introduced in detail.The numerical and fabrication methods of photonic crystal fiber,and its applications in optical devices are mainly introduced.On the basis of these,the research content and research significance of this topic were puts forward.(2)By using high birefringence and surface plasmon properties of coated gold film,surface plasmon resonance effect occurs in the resonance wavelength.A new type of photonic crystal fiber polarization filter with high performance and coating gold film is designed,and the light in the direction of y-polarization is filtered at 1.55?m.(3)Through the introduction of elliptical air holes in the fiber core,and then high birefringence is created,and its coupling characteristics are analyzed by beam propagation method.The numerical analysis result shows that the length of polarization splitter we designed in this paper is 93.3?m at the communication band 1.55?m.(4)A liquid filling refractive index sensor based on photonic crystal fiber is designed to improve the sensitivity,and the highest sensitivity of photonic crystal fiber reach 22983nm/RIU and the minimum reach 21679nm/RIU.(5)On aspect of experiment,the fabrication process of photonic crystal fiber and perform are introduced in detail.One of the experiment is described.In this paper,high performance photonic crystal fiber polarization devices and sensors are designed with the filling of materials and high birefringence.It simplifies the fabrication of photonic crystal fiber and provides important theoretical guidance for practical applications.
