Optical fiber,an important component of communication equipment and laser equipment,is widely used in information,military,aerospace and medical fields.However,as fiber optic materials are non-metallic and the main component is Si O2,they cannot meet the requirements of metal properties in application,such as thermal conductivity,heat resistance and weldability.In this paper,Cu coating and Ni-P coating were prepared on the surface of quartz fiber using electroless plating technology in surface modification.Cu-Graphene and Ni-P-Graphene composite coating were prepared by introducing graphene into the coating.SEM,EDS,TEM,Raman spectrometer,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)and three-dimensional topography were used to characterize the micro-morphology of graphene and fiber metal coating with optimized process.The influence of graphene on the microstructure and element state of the coating was studied and analyzed.The tensile strength,coating bonding ability and corrosion resistance of metal coating fiber were tested and analyzed.At the same time,the heat pipe performance and sensing stability of metal coating fiber after conducting light were studied.The results show that: The pretreatment process of electroless plating on fiber surface has great influence on the final quality of coating.In this paper,the pretreatment process of electroless plating on the surface of optical fiber is optimized,and the coarsening process of traditional electroless plating is cancelled to minimize the damage of optical fiber.According to the observation of microstructure and performance test results,the composite coating containing graphene sheet is more compact in structure and smaller in grain compared with the coating with the same metal base,and its relevant mechanical properties and corrosion resistance are improved.Compared with Cu coating,hardness of Cu-Graphene coating increased by 35.3%,elastic modulus increased by 34.0%,the V value of corrosion potential increased by 32.3%,the I value of corrosion current decreased by 22.5%;Compared with Ni-P coating,hardness of Ni-P-Graphene coating increased by 49.6%,elastic modulus increased by55.5%,the V value of corrosion potential increased by 15.6%,and the I value of corrosion current decreased by 24.1%.After the high and low temperature cycling experiment,the graphene composite coating showed no oxidation spots,peeling and swelling.The metal coating on the fiber surface increased the tensile strength of the fiber,and the Cu-Graphene coating and Ni-P-Graphene coating were 90.38% and 63.18% higher than the bare fiber,respectively.The optical fiber conducting test shows that the metal coating can overcome the burning of the organic coating on the surface of the optical fiber.Among them,the performance of the heat pipe with Cu-base coating fiber is the best and can increase the input power of pump laser.Model 220/242 metal-coated optical fiber,signal light transmission power is above97.0 %,signal light power loss is small,the surface temperature rise is less than 35?,can meet the application needs.
