Plasma periodic structure,represented by plasma photonic crystal,plays an important role in scientific research and engineering applications.Frequency selective surface(FSS)is a new type of artificial electromagnetic structure,which is able to modulate the propagation of electromagnetic waves with an important application value.In order to solve the problem that the characteristic scale of plasma periodic structure in microwave band is lower than the immersion depth,this work proposed a frequency selective surface structure.This FSS was involved into the plasma periodic structure forming an artificial electromagnetic coupling across-phase structure.This artificial electromagnetic structure reduces the characteristic dimensions of the plasma photonic crystal and gives the structure some effects of the plasma photonic crystal.Based on this artificial electromagnetic structure,the effects of FSS,metal grids and polarization angle to the reflection characteristics of planar coupled structure are discussed in this paper.The results suggest that these parameters have a significant tuning effect.Based on the planar structure,a coupled wedge structure is proposed.In order to investigate the influence of the wedge structure to the reflection characteristics of electromagnetic waves,the experiment and theoretical calculation are combined to evaluate the effects of FSS,top angle and polarization angle on the reflection characteristics of wedge structure.In the end,a coupled corner reflector is proposed,where the effects of FSS and incident angle of the electromagnetic wave are analyzed.As a conclusion,the FSS and incident angle of the electromagnetic wave can adjust the reflection performance of the corner reflector.In addition,the CST electromagnetic software is used to establish the corner reflector model,in which the electric field is calculated to explain the experimental phenomenon qualitatively.The results show that the experimental results are consistent with the theoretical calculations.
