With the development of market economy, the mobility of labor market has increased significantly, and the phenomenon of job hopping has become increasingly common, especially among young workers. As an important indicator to measure the working efficiency of workers, the study of the impact of job hopping on wages is helpful to study the impact of job hopping on the efficiency of labor allocation. From the perspective of job hopping motivation, wages have always been an important influencing factor for workers' job hopping. However, with the improvement of economic level,non-economic factors such as job prospects, employment stability and working environment have gradually become an important consideration for young workers. From the perspective of job hopping impact, the impact of job hopping on wages depends on the comparison of job hopping costs and benefits.Does job hopping have a positive or negative impact on young workers' wages? This paper uses the 2016 data of China labor force dynamic survey(CLDS)of Sun Yat sen University, uses descriptive statistical analysis and regression analysis to explore the impact of job hopping on young workers' wages;uses instrumental variable method to eliminate the endogeneity of the model;studies the heterogeneity of wage effect of job hopping on young workers based on their working years, education background, regions, urban and rural areas.Through empirical analysis,to investigate whether young workers' job hopping can improve their wages? Is there an optimal number or frequency of job hopping? The results show that:The impact of job hopping times on hourly wage is of a positive“U” structure. When the number of job hopping reaches 4.76,the influence reaches the bottom of the curve and changes from negative to positive. The frequency of job hopping has a negative impact on the wages of young workers.and the frequency of job hopping. When the frequency of job hopping increases once, the hourly wages of young workers decreased by 2.83 percentage points. The number of job hopping has a greater negative impact on the workers who have worked for 5-10 years or middle school educated workers, and the impact of the number of job hopping is 0.63 and 0.11 percentage points lower than that of the whole sample respectively. The negative impact on middle school educated workers is more stubborn, and the number of job hopping reaches 4.86,the negative impact turns into a positive impact. The frequency of job hopping has a more negative impact on the workers who have worked for 5-10 years, the workers with college degree or above, and the workers with high wage income, which are 6.05,0.76 and 0.47 percentage points lower than the whole sample respectively. In general, the impact of job hopping on young workers' wages is negative, that is,job hopping can not improve their wages. This shows that young workers' job hopping may pursue non economic incomegoals(such as person post matching, working conditions, interpersonal relations, etc.)or blindness. In order to eliminate unreasonable job hopping, improve the working efficiency and sense of acquisition of workers, promote the effective job hopping of workers, and improve the efficiency of labor market allocation,we must take the following measures.First,we should improve and promote the intelligent employment information system, realize information interconnection with the human resources and social security platform, tax platform and so on to help workers adapt to the corporate culture, solve the problem of information asymmetry between labor and capital, improve the efficiency of job matching, and reduce blind job hopping. We will promote the construction of smart labor unions, use the Internet to strengthen communication with employees, effectively safeguard employees' interests, and reduce ineffective job hopping caused by non economic reasons. We will strengthen technical training for low educated and low wage workers, increase their human capital content, and improve their bargaining power and employment stability.
