The report to the 19 th national congress of the communist party of China pointed out that China's economy has shifted from a stage of high-speed growth to a stage of high-quality development and entered a new economic normal.We must put quality first and efficiency first,speed up our efforts to build China into a manufacturing powerhouse,and move Chinese industries up the global value chain.As a new manufacturing system integrated with "product + service",service-oriented manufacturing is an effective way for the manufacturing industry to achieve innovative,high-quality and cost-effective development,promote the Chinese manufacturing industry to the middle and high end of the global value chain,and reshape new competitive advantages in the international market.The "13th five-year plan" and "made in China 2025" clearly propose to strengthen the development of service-oriented manufacturing,so as to promote the specialization and high-end extension of the value chain of China's manufacturing industry,and improve the international market position of China's manufacturing industry.In view of this,research on service-oriented manufacturing is of great significance to promote China's manufacturing industry to move towards the mid-to-high end of the global value chain,and to realize "Made in China 2025".Firstly,this paper constructs a stochastic frontier production function model that goes beyond the logarithmic form,proposes seven hypotheses to test the model's rationality,and calculates the overall TFP growth of service-oriented manufacturing industries in China's provinces from 2000 to 2017 based on the final model selection parameter estimation results Analysis of the TFP growth rate and the changes of each decomposition item from the perspective of time and space,and explore the contribution of each decomposition item to TFP growth and the contribution of TFP to output growth.The results show that:(1)the average TFP growth rate of China's service-oriented manufacturing industry is 7.42%,which has improved to some extent during the sample period,but the contribution rate of TFP growth to output growth is still low,only 0.330.Industrial growth is mainly driven by factor inputs(to be exact,capital factor inputs),and the transition from extensive growth to intensive growth has not yet been achieved.(2)The decomposition of TFP growth shows that technological progress and changes in technological efficiency are the main reasons for the growth of TFP in China's service-oriented manufacturing industry,but the rate of technological progress has been decreasing year by year,and its pulling effect on TFP growth has been weakening.The deterioration of the dual factors of scale efficiency and allocation efficiency has seriously hindered the improvement of the TFP level of service-oriented manufacturing industries in China.There is still a lot of room to improve the TFP level of service-oriented manufacturing industries by improving scale efficiency and allocation efficiency.(3)There is a large difference in the growth rate of TFP in service manufacturing between different provinces and cities.Except for Sichuan Province,the average growth rate of TFP in the other provinces and cities during the sample period is positive and is increasing.The growth rate of TFP in the central and western regions is relatively close and higher than that in the east,mainlydue to the promotion of technological progress and changes in technological efficiency,while the severe deterioration of the allocation efficiency and scale efficiency in the east has hindered the rise of its TFP.The growth rate of TFP in the North is higher than that in the South,which is mainly due to its relatively fast-growing technological progress rate and improvement in technological efficiency.Secondly,continue to use the stochastic frontier analysis method to measure the TFP growth rate of each sub-sector of the service manufacturing industry,and analyze the TFP growth rate of each sub-sector and its changes in terms of time and space.Further explore the contribution of each decomposition item to TFP growth and the contribution of TFP to output growth.The results show that:(1)there is obvious internal industry heterogeneity in the growth rate of China's service manufacturing TFP.The growth rates of TFP in different sub-sectors in the past years have been different,but as time goes on,the overall trend has decreased.During the entire sample period,the highest average TFP growth rate was electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing,which was 0.1667,and the smallest was food manufacturing,which was 0.0696.(2)The decomposition results of TFP growth rate show that there are obvious differences among industries.Technological progress is a common factor that promotes the growth rate of TFP in various sub-sectors,while technological efficiency changes,scale efficiency changes,and configuration efficiency changes are heterogeneous among sub-sectors.(3)Judging from the accounting results of output growth,the output growth rate of the transportation equipment manufacturing industry was the highest at 0.1808,and the food manufacturing industry was the smallest at 0.118.The comprehensive contribution of capital and labor factors in each sub-sector is greater than the contribution rate of TFP growth rate,and the contribution ratio of capital factors in input factors is large,indicating that the growth model of China's service manufacturing industry is still in an extensive growth mode Growth is mainly driven by the factors of capital input.(4)From a regional perspective,the growth rate of TFP in the service-oriented manufacturing industry shows significant differences among regions.TFP growth rate of transportation equipment manufacturing and electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing in the eastern region is higher than in other regions.The growth rate of TFP in the food manufacturing industry in the eastern and central regions is extremely close.Except for the food manufacturing,electrical machinery,and equipment manufacturing TFP growth rates that are extremely close in the North and South,the growth rates of TFP in the other industries in the North are higher than those in the South.Thirdly,the factors closely related to the development of service-oriented manufacturing industry are selected,and the degree of influence of each factor on the TFP of service-oriented manufacturing industry is examined.The results show that factors such as industrialization level,enterprise size,marketization level,and human capital have a significant positive impact on the promotion of TFP,while the impact of R & D investment in the current period is not obvious,and the lagging period has a significant positive promotion effect.Finally,based on the conclusions of this study,it is proposed to strengtheninter-regional cooperation,reduce industry spatial differences,improve human capital quality,strengthen endogenous technological innovation activities,improve the scale efficiency and factor allocation efficiency of service-oriented manufacturing,and increase R & D investment policy recommendations.
