Optical fiber sensor was-invented in the 1970s,and occupies the cutting-edge area in the fields of optics and electronics since it was invented. It's widely used in many areas like machinery, electronic instrumentation, aerospace, petroleum, chemical industry and food industry, etc.People are continuously pursuing fiber optic sensors with lower costs, higher precision and higher resolution. The Brillouin optical fiber sensor discussed in this paper is a kind of optical fiber sensor based on the Brillouin scattering effect. It could achieve longer measuring distance, higher spatial resolution and higher accuracy. But the Brillouin fiber optic sensor system is more complex compared with other fiber sensor systems and requires many systems work together to achieve the best performance. The most important systems in a BOTDA sensor are hardware platform, software algorithm, optical fiber system etc.In this paper we focus on the hardware system, where the analog-to-digital conversion circuit is one of the most important unit, which directly influence the critical system parameters like resolution, accuracy. The data acquire system is the most expensive module in the entire system as well. This article designed a BOTDA data acquiring system on a FPGA using dual 2-channel,250MSps,14bit ADCs and successfully acquired the sensor data.
