With the development of prospecting work, geoelectrochemical measurement technology has gradually received attention and application in mineral exploration in thick layer-covered areas. With regarding of the geochemical landscape featured the Quaternary thick layer on the surface of the Qujia gold mining area in Shandong, this paper aims at studying the mechanism of geoelectrochemical halo formation of the gold deposit based on contrast experiments between the filed and indoor prospecting effectiveness by using geoelectrochemical measurement technology. The outcomes are as follows:1.What accounts for Qujia gold mining area is the result of medium and low temperature and hydrothermal vein type gold deposits controlled by fracture structure in this area.Such elements as Au,Ag,As,Bi,Cu,Pb,Zn,etc.can be used as the main indicators to find concealed gold deposits.2.It is feasible and effective to use electrochemical measurement technology to prospect in Qujia gold mining area, which is proved by experimental data collected. The elements such as Au,Ag,As,Sb,Bi,and Mo obtained along the No.5 exploration line there shows apparent abnormalities with mostly triple or multi-peaked shapes.,which corresponds well to the location of the hidden gold deposit.3.The halo formation substance of this gold deposit originates from the surficial mulch above the ore body.It is shown in the contrast experiments between the filed and indoor prospecting effectiveness by using geoelectrochemical measurement technology that anomalies of Au,Ag,As,Sb,Bi,Mo,Pb,Zn,Cu,and Hg from field geoelectrochemical measurement correspond well with the locations of concealed gold. The anomalies distribution of indoor geoelectrochemical measurement are similar to those of field geoelectrochemical measurement, and the anomalous concentration was basically lower than those in field geoelectrochemical measurement, only a few sampling points had a higher concentration of Ag,Au,Cu,Hg,Pb,and Zn,which clearly indicates that the field geoelectrochemical measurement performance is better in terms of abnormal zone continuity, average abnormal intensity, abnormal width, abnormal reaction with ore body and an indication of ore body clarity.4.The geoelectrochemical measurement technology can be applied to extract ore-forming minerals related to deep ore bodies from the surface cover, and can aslo be used to promote the electrochemical dissolution process, turning the relatively weakly active phase ore-forming elements inthe soil into rather active ones. And analytical data gained along No.3exploration line can well jusrify such an assertion.
