In recent years,geographic information systems(GIS)have developed rapidly.GIS has played an important role in many important areas of people's livelihood and national defense,such as municipal management,battlefield allegations and ship transportation.In actual operation process of GIS,users are usually required to respond to and make decisions in a short time.Due to the variety of information on the map,the large capacity of the information,the user's cognitive load is easy to be too high.And it is easy causing errors such as ignoring important information and performing wrong operations,which will affect the normal operation of the system.Therefore,it is necessary to optimize the presentation and layout of GIS system map information.The research content of this article mainly includes the following aspects:Firstly,the functions and characteristics of GIS interface are analyzed,and the function module composition,overall layout form,map information types and layout methods of GIS interface are studied.Through the questionnaire,we found the existing problems of GIS interface and user preferences.Secondly,the general rules of visual browsing and visual cognitive rules of visual search and monitoring tasks are summarized.Based on the research of visual hierarchy,visual weight and visual process,the method model of interface layout based on visual motion cognition is established,and the method strategy that can be applied to GIS interface layout design is obtained.Eye movement technology are used to explore the impact of the layout of simple and detailed signs on user performance.This paper explores the effects of alignment,overlap,guide line,location,information classification and other visual design methods on users' cognitive performance.The experimental results show that the location of information display,layout,overlap rate and so on have a significant impact on performance.When the overlap rate of target is high or need to align the sign,sign left and right distribution and alignment form should be choosed,reaction time and eye movement index results are optimal.When a target pop-up detailed sign pop-up window,pop-up window should display in the interface center or around the target,which can improve the user's operational efficiency.In the internal layout of the sign,left and right distribution is better than up and down distribution.When the title word number is inconsistent,the title right alignment,text left alignment layout can be choosed,which has the highest user performance.Finally,based on the design strategy of visual motion cognition theory,combined with the general principles of layout design and the experimental research conclusion of information layout,the GIS interface including target sign,pop-up window and alarm information is designed.The optimized layout design conforms to the user's usage habits and improves the user's work performance and satisfaction.The results of this study show that using the design method of visual motion cognition theory to design the layout of interface information can effectively help users understand and operate the GIS interface.
