The exact boundary controllability for first order general quasilinear hyperbolic systems with the Eigenvalues of Single Sign and unsteady supercritical flows in open canals are established.Firstly,based on the existence and uniqueness result for the semi-global C1 solution to the mixed initial-boundary value problem for first order quasilinear hyperbolic systems with with the Eigenvalues of Single Sign,the exact boundary controllability is established for first order general quasilinear hyperbolic systems.Secondly,based on the above exact boundary controllability results,the exact boundary controllability of unsteady supercritical flows in single open canals,series open canals and a star-like network of open canals is established.
