Three kinds of novel polyesters containing 8-hydroxyquinoline side groups(P7?P9)were synthesized by multistep reactions with 5-nitro isophthalic acid as the starting material.P7?P9reacted with zinc acetate and aluminum chloride to get zinc complexes(P7-Zn?P9-Zn)and aluminum complexes(P7-Al?P9-Al).P7?P9 reacted with Aluminum acetylacetonate to get aluminum complexes(P7-Al-(acac)2?P9-Al-(acac)2,P7-Al-acac?P9-Al-acac).P7?P9 reacted with bis(8-hydroxyquinoline)acetylacetone aluminum to get aluminum complexes(P7-Al-Q2?P9-Al-Q2).The structures and properties of polyesters and metal complexes were characterized by elemental analysis,IR,UV-Vis,1H NMR,GPC,TG and fluorescence spectroscopy,et al.Polyesters P7?P9 could easily dissolve in many solvents such as CHCl3,THF,DMF,DMAc,DMSO,NMP.Metal complexes P7-Al?P9-Al could be partly dissolved in THF and CHCl3,they were soluble in a range of common organic solvents such as DMF,DMAc,DMSO,NMP.P7-Zn?P9-Zn,P7-Al-(acac)2?P9-Al-(acac)2,P7-Al-acac?P9-Al-acac and P7-Al-Q2?P9-Al-Q2could be partly dissolved in DMF,DMAc,DMSO and NMP,et al.The results showed that polyesters and metal complexes have good solubility.The Mwof P7?P9 were 14563,16332 and 17991g/mol,the PDI were 1.62,1.73 and 1.92,respectively.The 5%mass loss temperatures of P7?P9 were 289.6,306.6 and 314.7°C,the 5%mass loss temperatures of 15 kinds of metal complexes were around 214.4?292.7°C,respectively.Test results showed that polyesters and metal complexes have good thermal stability.P7?P9 emit purple light around 430 nm in DMF solution(5×10-5mol/L).Metal complexes P7-Zn?P9-Zn and P7-Al?P9-Al emit strong green light around 548 and 526 nm in DMF solution(5×10-5mol/L)and very strong green light around 554 and 532 nm in solid state,respectively.Metal complexes P7-Al-(acac)2?P9-Al-(acac)2,P7-Al-acac?P9-Al-acac and P7-Al-Q2?P9-Al-Q2emit strong green light around 520,523 and 517 nm in DMF solution(5×10-5mol/L)and very strong green light around 526,528 and 531 nm in solid state,respectively.Test results showed that these matel complexes display good fluorescence properties emitting green light.In this paper,3 kinds of novel polyesters containing 8-hydroxyquinoline side groups P7?P9 and 15 kinds of their metal complexes P7-Zn?P9-Zn,P7-Al?P9-Al,P7-Al-(acac)2?P9-Al-(acac)2,P7-Al-acac?P9-Al-acac and P7-Al-Q2?P9-Al-Q2were synthesized.They have good solubility and thermal stability.The zinc and aluminum complexes of P7?P9 have good fluorescent property of emitting green light,displaying the further research value in the field of polymer luminescent material.
