With the continuous integration of informatization and industrialization, the process industry,as the pillar industry of the national economy,is developing towards an efficient, green and integrated direction. However, the rapid growth of economy and the continuous promotion of industrialization lead to the shortage of nonferrous metal resources, and the problem of resources has become the fundamental problem of affecting China's sustainable development strategy. How to make use of low-grade mineral resources economically and effectively to ensure the highest economic benefits under the normal operation of the process is the focus of current research.Assessment of operation performance is to answer how optimal the current operating performance is under normal operating conditions. When the process is operating at a non-optimal performance,non-optimal cause identification is carried out, which offers guidance to bring the process back to the optimal performance. In order to realize the operating performance assessment of multi-mode industrial production process with both qualitative and quantitative information,an online operating performance assessment method based on Rough Set(RS)is proposed.Operating performance assessment consists of offline modeling and online assessment.Firstly, the mode indicator variable is used to establish the mode partition rule base according to the mode partition method proposed in this paper, the modeling data of different modes are collected to establish operating performance assessment rule base including process level assessment rule base and target level assessment rule base based on RS respectively; In online assessment part, the online sample data is identified by mode identification, and confirm the mode which the online sample data belongs to.Then the rules are matched in the corresponding operating performance assessment rule base to realize the online assessment of the production process; When the process is operating at a non-optimal performance,non-optimal cause identification is carried out through calculating the variable difference degree between the current non-optimal data and the rule in the optimal rule base, which offers guidance to the operators to bring the process back to the optimal performance. The process of gold hydrometallurgy is a typical complex industrial process. It has long and many processes which includes leaching process, filter washing process and the replacement process. In addition, the coupling relationship is strong within process and weak between processes. The operating characteristics are complex, and there are many stable production modes and transition modes with different process characteristics. There are many kinds of variables, not only quantitative variables, but also many qualitative variables which are valuable and can not be measured accurately. In this paper, the cyanide leaching and zinc powder replacement process are taken as the research object.Comprehensive economic benefit is taken as the assessment index of whole process. The assessment model is established by using the Rough Set theory, and the effectiveness of the method is verified by simulation.
