As the key security part of the automobile structure,the steering knuckle is responsible for supporting the body mass,transferring the steering torque and the front wheel braking torque,and plays the role of flexible steering and stable driving.Therefore,the steering knuckle should have good comprehensive mechanical properties to ensure the safety and reliability of the vehicle.With the booming development of the automobile industry and the surge of production in the field of heavy truck in recent years,the demand for steering knuckles is increasing.How to develop and manufacture products with high quality,low cost and high efficiency is particularly critical for enterprises to achieve high reputation,high benefit and high market share.Therefore,the continuous exploration and research of new forging technology is of great significance for promoting the development of China's automobile industry and parts forging industry.This article is aimed at a certain type of disc steering knuckle currently produced by a well-known domestic heavy truck manufacturer using an 8000T hot die forging press unit line.There are mainly about 1.82%of the mold waste at the edge of the disc surface,and multiple forging fine folds on the outer edge of the disc surface,resulting in waste 5.54%of the manufacturing problems,through the comprehensive application of forging process design and forming process numerical simulation,successfully developed new hot forging die technology and optimized die design,improved the high rejection rate and high cost loss of existing disc steering knuckle products,and realized the product The quality is greatly improved,the rejection rate is significantly reduced,and the effect of saving production costs and creating greater economic benefits for enterprises is obvious.The main work and conclusions of this paper are as follows:1.Analyze the process of the research object,draw forging drawings,select equipment tonnage,forging process steps,blank design and selection,hot forging die design and development,and formulate two sets of forging process plans for steering knuckle products;At the same time,a more ideal process optimization plan was also proposed,which is the direction of future technology development and breakthroughs;2.The numerical simulation of two sets of process plans was carried out by using DEFORM software,and the comparison was made according to the actual production results.It was proved that the numerical simulation results were reliable and basically consistent with the actual situation;3.Comparing the results of numerical simulation and actual production,the product quality of the two process plans is greatly improved compared with the original production process,and process plan 2 is better than process plan 1.The process plan 2 is recommended as the forging process method for the later mass production of this type of disc steering knuckle,and its scrap rate is reduced from about 7.36%to about 1.01%,effectively improve product quality and reduce waste loss.
