With the rapid development of mechanization,the performance and stability of traditional grease additives have been difficult to meet the requirements of use,so it is urgent to find a high performance grease additive to improve the performance of the grease such as anti-pressure and anti-wear.In recent years,nanomaterials have become a research hotspot in the field of tribology due to their unique properties.Nanomaterials can be applied to the harsh lubrication environment and increase the service life of the machine by reducing wear and improving the lubrication performance.When using as grease additives to reduce the friction coefficient,a layer of easily cut film can be formed on the surface of the nanomaterials due to the small size and large surface energy of nanomaterials.Besides,nanomaterials are environmentally friendly and free-pollution.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the well-performance nanomaterial additives.Nano molybdenum disulfide(MoS2)is a typical two-dimensional layered material with the structure characteristics of the graphene.The layer structures of MoS2 are directly connected to each other by weak van der Waals forces and are easy to slip.Nanometer MoS2 as an additive of grease can exhibit better tribological properties,MoS2is widely used as grease additive and becomes one of the hot materials in current research due to its unique structure.So it is of great significance to develop nanometer MoS2 materials with better properties.In this paper,we use MoS2 as the additive of grease and mainly study the following contents:First of all,we studied the effects of different particle size and content of MoS2 on the cone penetration degree,drop point,steel mesh oil separation,PB and PD of grease.We found that the additive with small size can enhance the performance of grease.Secondly,we synthesized cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide(CTAB)modified MoS2 using hydrothermal method,following characterizing the morphology and structure by using Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM)and Fourier Infrared Spectrometer(FT-IR).After testing the performance,we found that the modification of MoS2additive has more excellent PB and PD value,smaller oil steel mesh point value.It may due ti the fact that the existing of isolated electrons on the surface of the nano-additive will affect the performance index and structural stability of the grease.After surface modification,the nano-additive can be more stable and welldispersed in the grease,so that the grease has more excellent comprehensive performance index.
