In recent years, with the rapid progress of urbanization across the country, the outdated pipeline network planning has gradually lagged behind the tide of the times. Many companies are only satisfied with repairing the original pipeline, but fail to evaluate the pipeline from a long-term and scientific perspective. This article selects the S area of Shaanxi Province as the analysis object. The study found that with the increase in the total number of users and the possible expansion of the pipeline network in the future, the load on the pipeline network is increasing, and peak supply shaving will also face severe challenges. As a result, there will be a shortage of gas in winter in the future. In addition,in recent years, the nationwide "gas shortage" situation cannot be alleviated for the time being. Therefore,it is urgent to analyze, systematically reform and construct the existing pipeline network to achieve the purpose of alleviating the contradiction between supply and demand. The main research content of this article as follows.(1)Introduce the development status of the domestic natural gas market, summarize and generalize the progress of simulation and optimization of natural gas pipeline networks at home and abroad;(2)Apart from investigate and analyze to the pipeline network structure, also to the operation data of the target area,we can also aiming at its current gas consumption and gas source status, gas supply volume, gas supply characteristics, user status, uneven gas consumption, peak shaving gas storage, and analyze the pipe network structure, quality and safety.(3)Introduced the used model, and finally chose to use the method of static simulation. With the help of natural gas fluid model and pipeline flow model, based on actual data, using PNS software to model the existing pipeline network. At the same time,on the basis of the active service model, the simulation was carried out by calculating the monthly peak hourly flow, thereby finding the "bottleneck" of the active pipeline network system, and then analyze the maximum gas transmission capacity and gas source load of the pipeline network.(4)Through the comparison of schemes, based on the pressure at the end of the pipe network and the engineering quantity, the scheme of expanding the pipe diameter and connecting reserved pipes to form a pipe network was selected,so as to achieve the purpose of increasing the pressure at the end of the pipe network and the gas supply capacity. In this way can we completed the work of adaptability analysis. This article is an exploration of combining theory with practice, trying to maximize the value of existing pipelines through modeling. This is also the meaning of this article.
