Corrosion has long been thought to be the leading cause of metal waste,especially steel.Many organizations are dealing with different corrosion related economic loss and these organizations and agencies undertake some corrosion safety acts to prevent the deterioration of their different work materials.In this study,corrosion protection films were synthesized.The films were based on 2D polymer(Graphene)coatings doped with combinations of tartrate and oxalate adsorbed at Monel alloy.The corrosion protective properties of these films on Monel alloy were studied and compared to the uncoated Monel alloy substrate.They were assessed and studied using a combination of cyclic voltammetry and open-circuit potential measurements.Graphene films were deposited at Monel alloy from a 0.10 mol dm-3oxalate solution at a pH of 8.0 and a 0.10 mol dm-3 tartrate solution at a pH of 7.0 to generate Graphene-Tartrate and Graphene-Oxalate films on Monel alloy.Scanning electron microscopy(SEM)micrographs were used to confirm that the polymers are homogeneous,defect and crack-free.In addition,Graphene-based coatings-sprayed by High Velocity Air Fuel(HVAF)were investigated through detailed laboratory studies in ambient air,moisture and HCl-laden environments.The exposures were conducted at 600? for up to 168 h with and without presence of KCl salt.Bi-layers comprising Graphene-Tartrate/Graphene-Oxalate and Graphene-Oxalate/PPy-Tartrate were formed at the monel alloy interface and the bi-layer provided better corrosion protective coatings.With the bi-layer,higher breakdown potentials were observed.The Graphene-based coatings-sprayed by High Velocity Air Fuel(HVAF)investigated through detailed laboratory studies in ambient air,moisture and HCl-laden environments,in the absence of KCl,we found that all coatings were extremely protective in all environments due to the forming of protective scales on the coating surface.
