In recent years, the surface processing technology of parts has developed rapidly, and the discipline system of surface processing has gradually formed.Surface processing is an emerging edge subject, involving knowledge of disciplines such as mechanics, chemistry, materials science, and heat.Polishing is an important part of surface processing technology, mainly using consolidation, free abrasive particles or other new methods to modify the surface of the workpiece.Non-woven-based coated abrasives has a wide range of applications, low prices, and short production processes. With the expansion of its application, many problems have been exposed, such as low product grades.,Short life, not suitable for the processing of precision instruments, etc. How to improve the service life and polishing efficiency of nonwoven coated abrasive products is an important research direction at present. The airlaid technology is an efficient non-woven fabric forming method, and the obtained fiber web has a small difference in strength in the vertical and horizontal directions, and the prepared abrasive has high resilience, which can ensure the pressure balance of the abrasive during the working process.Therefore,air-laid nonwovens have broad application prospects in the production of abrasive products. At present, there are relatively few research reports on the application of air-laid nonwovens in abrasive materials. The polishing performance and compression performance of air-laid nonwovens materials need to be more perfect. In this paper,a nylon-based airlaid nonwoven substrate is prepared, and the process flow of the substrate from fiber selection, opening, impurity removal, net formation to reinforcement is introduced in detail. The prepared air-laid non-woven substrate is used in the preparation of abrasive materials.By changing the base material weight, the content of the binder, the number of abrasive grains, and the ratio of abrasives, the polishing performance of the air-laid non-woven abrasive tool is explored. The key research contents and conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)Preparation of air-laid nonwoven fabric substrateThe focus is on the preparation process of the air-laid nonwoven substrate, from fiber selection, opening, laying and reinforcement to the air-laid nonwoven substrate, and research on the transmission and work of the fiber in each process.process.Analyze the formation of the three-dimensional network structure of the air-laid nonwoven substrate and the factors affecting the uniformity of the web,as well as the adjustable process parameters in the production.Basic performance tests were carried out on the four airlaid nonwoven substrates prepared.(2)The influence and characterization of base material weight on polishing performance of abrasive toolsAt present, there is no clear standard for the characterization of the performance of nonwoven coated abrasives. This article will characterize the abrasives from two aspects:the compression performance and polishing performance. The polishing performance of the abrasives is tested using the company's self-made tribometer. At the same time, the principle of removing the workpiece and the principle of wear of the abrasive tool are analyzed by contact mechanics. After fitting and deriving the compressive stress-strain curve,it is found that the abrasive tool with large initial modulus has the largest loss in the first polishing test.Under the same conditions of dip rolling and sandblasting, the grinding tool with a base material weight of 900±40 g/m2 has a small initial modulus and good flexibility. The total grinding amount of aluminum plate is up to 15.4±0.1g/100 min,and the grinding tool loss is low, which is only1.1±0.2g/100 min.(3)The influence of the ratio of abrasives on the polishing performance of abrasive toolsIn order to explore the influence of resin and abrasive grains on the polishing performance of airlaid nonwoven abrasive materials in the production of airlaid nonwoven abrasive materials, the content of phenolic resin and the number of abrasive particles during the padding of the substrate were changed. The experimental results show that the number of abrasive grains affects the grinding amount of the abrasive material on the aluminum plate. The larger the mesh number, the lower the grinding amount of the aluminum plate, which is only 4.9±0.6 g/100 min.The polishing properties of four kinds of abrasive tools with different content of phenolic resin were tested. The grinding capacity of aluminum plate is lower and the grinding loss is higher without the reinforcement of phenolic resin. After the end of the third polishing experiment, the surface of the grinding tool appeared the phenomenon of fracture and shrinkage, which reduced the service life of the grinding tool. When the ratio of phenolic resin to water was 8:3,the grinding amount of aluminum plate was the highest, reaching 13.5±0.2g/100 min,and the grinding loss was the lowest, reaching 0.7±0.2g/100 min.The abrasive ratio of the original abrasive NE-8968 was changed to test the performance of the abrasive tools. It was found that the grinding amount of aluminum plate prepared by orthogonal scheme A2B1C1 was 14.7±0.1g/100 min, which was higher than that of grinding tool NE-8968,which was 14.0±0.1g/100 min,and its own loss was 0.7±0.2g/100 min, which was lower than that of grinding tool NE-8968,which was 0.8±0.2g/100 min. Therefore, when the abrasive ratio of NE-8968 was 65:36,the mass ratio of phenolic resin to water was 117 g and the content of methanol was 1.5 g,the polishing performance of the abrasive material was optimized.
