Wear resistance,rolling resistance,and wet skid resistance are the three most important properties of tire tread rubber,commonly known as the "magic triangle of tread performance." The grip of tires on wet roads ensures the safety of passengers' lives and property.As a good substitute for TDAE,anti-wet slip resin can improve the wet grip of the tread rubber by adjusting the viscoelasticity of the rubber compound,while basically not causing an increase in rolling resistance.Good compatibility is a prerequisite for the selection and use of resin,which affects the actual Tg shift and the dynamic performance of rubber compounds.In this paper,the compatibility of two anti-slip resins SA85 and CSR6200 with different SSBR and their effects on the properties of vulcanizates were studied.SA85 was a pure monomeric ?-methyl styrene resin produced by Arizona Company of the United States,and CSR6200 was a modified ?-methyl styrene resin produced by Jiang Su Chee Shine Performance Materials Co.,Ltd.In this experiment,attempted to judge the compatibility of rubber and resin by solubility parameters and compound Tg shift.Studies had shown that it was more suitable to evaluate the compatibility by the offset of Tg before and after adding the resin measured by DSC.SA85 resin shifted the glass transition temperature peak of SSBR2636 most,and the difference between tested Tg value and the value calculated by the Fox equation was smaller,which indicated resin SA85 had better compatibility with SSBR2636.Similarly,CSR6200 resin had the best compatibility with HP755.There were certain limitations in judging compatibility by the solubility parameters of rubber and resin.With the addition of resin,the Mooney viscosity of the three SSBR decreased and the processing performance was improved.The Payne effect decreased,which means that the dispersion of silica in the vulcanized compound was improved.Through the DMA test,it can be found that improving the compatibility of the anti-wet slipping resin and SSBR will be beneficial to the improvement of the anti-slip performance without negatively affecting the rolling resistance.The addition of resin also induced larger resilience difference between high temperature(70?)and room temperature(25?),which represents better tread property balance between wet skid resistance and rolling resistance,and the SSBR with the best compatibility showed the best improvement.In the tread rubber formula,the 5phr resin was replaced by an equivalent amount of TDAE.Through the performance test comparison,it can be seen that the performance of the Arizona company's SA85 resin was similar to that of the domestic CSR6200 resin.After the resin was added,the basic mechanical properties of the rubber compound were similar to those of the rubber compound added with TDAE;the dispersibility of the silica of the resin compound was slightly worse,but the difference was small.In terms of dynamic mechanics,the addition of resin caused the loss peak to move to the high temperature direction,the wet road grip index increased by 11.7%,and the rolling resistance was greatly reduced by 10.8%.In addition,it will not negatively affect the wear resistance of the vulcanized rubber.Anti-wet slip resin was an ideal additive for adjusting the "magic triangle" of tread rubber.
