Starting from the mobility of action figures,this article discusses the optimization of mechanical lumbar joint design based on basic human kinematics.An optimization plan is proposed based on combination studies between the design for mechanical lumbar joints and the structural organization of the human body.Further explorations on material selection and joint damping are also added.The research in this article is about the optimization of mechanical lumbar joint design for action figures in order to enhance their forward flexion.The main methods include analysis of the lumbar joint structure of the human body,as well the characteristics and range of its motion.On this basis,an attempt on optimization is made,which contains two major parts-that for the joint structure and for the joint motion.There is also a supplementary section which includes research on built-in lumbar structure design,material selection and structural damping.The article is divided into four chapters.Chapter one is the introduction,which explains the origin of ACG(animation,comic,gaming)merchandise,technologies behind the production of action figures,current domestic and international research status on action figures joint,as well as the meaningful and creative aspects of the research topic.A general description of action figures,including its original concept development,typical examples of different themes,and the current status of the industry are also presented.Chapter two analyzes the joint structure and motion of the human lumbar joint.The joint structure,three planes of motion,three axes of rotation and the characteristics and range of joint motion are explained from the perspective of human kinematics.Chapter three studies the optimization of mechanical lumbar joint design for action figures.Combined with chapter two's analysis on the human lumbar joint,studies focusing optimization of mechanical joint motion is done.Supplementary optimizations such as built-in lumbar structures are explored.Topics of material selection and joint damping are also explained.Chapter four is conclusion and outlook,summarizing current research status and making suggestions for potential next steps.As the ACG industry is rapidly growing nowadays,newer versions of action figures are constantly put into the market.Customers are now demanding action figures with higher qualities of forms and more varieties of themes,which in terms requires more flexible motions.As it is an ACG product that simulates the actual motion of the human body,it is essential to study the joint structures of the human body to design the mechanical mobile joint.We hope that our study on optimization can be helpful and inspiring to later researchers.
