Brominated butyl rubber(BIIR)has excellent air tightness and is widely used in tire inner liner.However,the existing airtight layer made of brominated butyl rubber can no longer meet the requirements of tire lightweight and high performance,and developing brominated butyl rubber composites with higher airtight performance has become a research hotspot and difficulty in scientific research and application fields.Layered silicate is a kind of mineral resource with huge reserves and low price,which has been successfully applied in polymer modification.In order to further improve the gas barrier properties of BIIR,OMMT)/brominated butyl rubber nanocomposites were prepared by solution intercalation method.X-ray diffractometer(XRD)and transmission electron microscope(TEM)were used to characterize the micro-morphology of the composites.The dispersion of organic montmorillonite in BIIR matrix was observed.The mechanism of action of MA on organic montmorillonite was investigated by XRD,scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and atomic force microscopy(AFM)The vulcanization properties,Payne effect,mechanical properties and gas barrier properties of the composites were tested and analyzed.The results show that the organic montmorillonite is evenly dispersed in the BIIR,and the mechanical properties and airtightness of the organic montmorillonite/BIIR composites are significantly improved.This has important reference value for the production of tire inner liner.The main work of this paper is as follows:(1)The dispersion of OMMT in different dispersion systems and its influence on the preparation of OMMT/BIIR composite masterbatch were explored.The effects of different dispersion systems on the dispersibility of OMMT were investigated by naked eyes.OMMT is difficult to disperse in n-hexane and cyclohexane,but well dispersed in tetrahydrofuran and n-hexane/AEO-9 system.Several OMMT/BIIR composite masterbatch with different dispersion systems were prepared,and the microstructure of the composite was preliminarily characterized by XRD.(2)The influence of OMMT variables on the structure and properties of brominated butyl rubber nanocomposites was studied.The microstructure of the composites was studied by TEM and XRD.The results showed that the OMMT was dispersed in the rubber matrix at nanometer level,forming an intercalated composite structure.The mechanical properties and gas barrier properties of the composites were analyzed.The mechanical properties and gas barrier properties of BIIR can be significantly improved by adding only 5 phr of OMMT.(3)The effects of modifying agent variables on the structure and properties of OMMT/BIIR nanocomposites were studied.The effects of modifying agent content on the structure and properties of the composites were investigated through the characterization of microstructure and macroscopic properties in the OMMT system with different filling amounts.The action mechanism of modifying agent on organic montmorillonite was preliminarily explored.(4)Carbon black(CB)/BIIR and OMMT/CB/BIIR nanocomposites were prepared.TEM shows that CB and OMMT are well dispersed in rubber matrix,and OMMT/CB/BIIR has better gas barrier properties.(5)OMMT/BIIR nanocomposites were prepared by colloid mill and reaction kettle.The composites have high mechanical properties and air tightness,which laid a foundation for industrialization in the future.
