Research On The Application Of Chengbu Miao Embroidery Zodiac Dragon Pattern In Women's Fashion Design

Miao embroidery is a kind of historical record worn by the Miao people in Chengbu Miao Autonomous County,Hunan province where have a long history and culture but without written records.Miao embroidery is a distinctive symbol of Miao's self-identity as well as a form of expression of local women's daily emotions and appeals.The rich and diverse patterns of Miao embroidery are what characters to historical records.They are not only the record form of the historical culture but also religious beliefs of the Miao in Chengbu.They have profound beliefs such as nostalgia for ancestors and expectation of a better life.The unique charm of Miao embroidery demonstrates free spirit and exquisite craftsmanship of the Miao people in Chengbu.This paper conducted an in-depth understanding and analysis of "dragon" pattern of the Miao embroidery.It aims to demonstrate the different expression techniques and application exploration of "dragon" pattern in Miao embroidery through secondary innovative design techniques.Combining modern women's clothing design,it also tries to find the best fit between tradition and modern.In order to meet needs of the times,the Miao culture keeps pace with the times and is constantly endowed with new connotations.However,with unprecedented rapid changes in the current era,the Miao embroidery culture are facing many difficulties of inheritance and development,even crisis of extinction.This innovative clothing design is try to spread the profound connotation of traditional culture of the Miao embroidery.It is in line with the times while retaining the essence of the traditional culture,allowing Miao embroidery in Chengbu to radiate new vitality in the contemporary era.This paper includes three parts.The first part focus on market research and analysis.It analyzes the status quo of the product inheritance and development according to the on-site market research on Miao embroidery products in Chengbu Miao Autonomous County.It also summarizes its existing problems in clothing design by researching its application status in the Costume field.In theoretical research and analysis part,it expounds the origin and development of Miao embroidery culture from the following aspect;characteristics of pattern composition,stitches and patterns' cultural connotation.It also analyzes the artistic form and characteristics of the “dragon”pattern such as the ethnic style characteristics,the principle of layout,the characteristics of color matching and the application value.Finally,It elaborates the design practice from the aspects of innovative design,Clothing inspiration,positioning,color extraction,fabric selection,stylish design and production process of dragon pattern in Miao embroidery.The purpose of this paper is to achieve a mutual benefit between traditional culture and clothing design.It tries to promote the inheritance and development of Chinese traditional culture which can provide many innovative sources and open a new chapter for the clothing design.While enhancing better development of Miao embroidery,it can also promote the development of the clothing industry in Chengbu Miao Autonomous County,which can effectively solve the problem of employment difficulties and enhance life quality for some Miao people.
