Glass fiber reinforced polymer(GFRP)composites have the advantages of light weight and high strength, and are widely used in aviation, construction and other fields.Because GFRP composites are anisotropic materials, different composition ratio, microstructure and other factors will affect their mechanical properties, and the mechanical response of materials under different loading strain rates is also different. The research on the static /dynamic mechanical properties of GFRP composites is of great significance to ensure the service safety and optimize the properties of these materials. In this paper, glass fiber reinforced vinyl ester resin(GF/VE)composites with five mass fractions(55%,60%,65%,70%,75%)are taken as the research object. The static/dynamic compression test and static/dynamic splitting tensile test are carried out on GF/VE composites by using universal material testing machine and Hopkinson compression bar device. The failure forms of specimens under static test and the deformation and failure process of specimens under dynamic test are analyzed,The effects of glass fiber content and loading strain rate on its mechanical properties are discussed, and the energy dissipation law of GF/VE composites in dynamic experiments is studied. The results show that:(1)Under quasi-static compression load, increasing the mass fraction of glass fiber will improve the elastic modulus and peak stress of GF/VE material;Under quasi-static splitting tensile load, when the mass fraction of glass fiber is 65%,the tensile strength of GF/VE material is the highest.(2)Under dynamic compression load, the peak stress of GF/VE specimen increases with the increase of loading strain rate, but the peak stress and compressive strength factor decrease with the increase of glass fiber mass fraction.Under dynamic splitting tensile load, the tensile strength and dynamic enhancement factor of GF/VE specimens increase with the increase of loading strain rate;Under the same loading conditions, when the mass fraction is 65%,the tensile strength of GF/VE material is the highest.(3)From the perspective of energy, under dynamic load, the crushing energy consumption and crushing energy consumption density of GF/VE specimens with five mass fractions increase with the increase of loading strain rate;Under the dynamic splitting tensile load, the crushing energy consumption and crushing energy consumption density reach the highest when the mass fraction is 65%.(4)Based on the static/dynamic mechanical properties of GF/VE materials,it is more appropriate to select GF/VE materials with mass fraction of 65% in practical production and application. The research results can provide test methods and data support for the lightweight design and production application of GFRP composite products.Figure [39] table [12] reference [82]...
