Study On The Concept Of Official Ceremonial Dress Color In Song Dynasty

"Official clothing color system",also known as "color clothing system",is a system to distinguish the grade of officials through different clothing colors.This kind of official clothing is also known as "color clothing".The color service system can be traced back to the Northern Zhou Dynasty,but the relationship between the color and the rank of officials at that time has not been clear.After the first year of emperor Yang’s great cause,the real color service system was established.Later,it was continued and developed in the Tang Dynasty,and further improved and matured in the Song Dynasty.The color system of official clothes is a kind of feudal ritual system.Its essence is to strengthen the difference of identity grade between people through color,so as to emphasize the concept of grade.The color cognition of color clothing system mainly comes from three aspects: traditional Yin-Yang and five elements theory,Taoist religious belief and simple color cognition,which are the basis for the king to formulate the color clothing system.This paper analyzes the four colors in the official clothing color system,combs their respective connotations,and looks for the basic principle of the formation of this ritual system in combination with the color cognition of the above three aspects.This paper is divided into four chapters to study the color purple,red,green and green according to the order of the corresponding official level.The first chapter explains the phenomenon of advocating purple in the Tang and Song Dynasties,analyzes the reasons behind it,including the theory of Yin-Yang and five elements and the influence of religious belief,and then analyzes the political and social problems involved behind it.The second chapter first defines the color words of red,then analyzes why red becomes a "high-level color" from different angles,and finally analyzes its position in the "color" and so on.The third chapter focuses on why green symbolizes low status,and the reasons are analyzed from the color concept of Yin-Yang and five elements,the cheapness of dyeing and weaving materials and so on.The fourth chapter first reveals the phenomenon of people’s "inferior youth",and analyzes its causes through color cognition.Secondly,it puts forward the contradiction between the ancients’ "advocating youth" and "inferiority to youth" and seeks an explanation.Finally,it discusses the phenomenon of "Prohibition" and "arrogation" involved in the frequent changes of blue official clothes in the color clothing system,as well as the political and social problems reflected behind it.
