A Study On Competitive Strategy For Company A In Water Pollution Treatment Industry

The current research uses Company A as a case study to analyze its competitive strategy.Company A is one of the most established companies in the field of underground wastewater treatment in China.The analysis was carried out using some of the most commonly used strategic management methodologies,including the five forces model,SWOT,value chain theory,VRIO framework,and the three general strategies.Detailed review of these methodologies was carried out to ensure they are suitable for this research.Subsequently,desktop review was carried out to synthesize the current policies and past research on wastewater treatment in China.Based on the aforementioned reviews,the research utilizes the PEST framework to analyze China’s wastewater treatment market trend and uses the five forces model and strategic group method to analyze Company A’s position in the sector and among its competitors.Subsequently,the value chain theory and the VRIO framework were used to analyze Company A’s competitive advantages based on its internal institutional organization.Building on all these,SWOT analysis was carried out to identify Company A’s opportunities,weaknesses,strengths,and threats.Based on the findings,the research recommends Company A to adopt a focus strategy and provides detailed recommendations for its entire value chains,covering research and development(R&D),market development,construction,operations,human resources management,and financial management.The research does not only provide practical recommendations to Company A,but the lessons learned will serve as a new case study for strategy research for underground wastewater treatment sector in China.It will become a good reference case for other wastewater treatment companies when developing their business strategies.
