| Diet is the most basic physiological need of human beings,the material basis for normal production activities and the prerequisite for creating a higher value material culture.The food culture of the south-central region of Inner Mongolia,which is located in the border area between the grassland culture and the Middle Kingdom culture,also shows considerable uniqueness and is a very important part of China’s food culture.The research results related to the burials in the area studied in this paper are abundant,with burial staging,form,cultural factors,and clan affiliation,etc.,but the research on its Han Dynasty food culture from the analysis of archaeological data is less common.The geographical location of the south-central region of Inner Mongolia is unique in that the Yinshan Mountains naturally divide nomadic activities from farming activities,while the Loop Plain and the Yellow River water and the vast natural pastures provide the people with unique production and living conditions.The immigration policy of Qin and Han Dynasty made the central and southern Inner Mongolia developed,and the favorable conditions laid the foundation for the development of the food culture in the central and southern Inner Mongolia.This paper first made a typology analysis of the pottery eating utensils unearthed from the Han tombs in the study area,and concluded that the type characteristics of eating utensils were formed under the influence of the communication between nomadic culture and farming culture.Then the paper analyzes the livelihood patterns of the Han dynasty in the region,mainly arranges the unearthed crops,animal remains and the archaeological data of production tools,and finally presents the characteristics of the local diet structure with the intuitionistic data.In the end,the author discusses the types of food,processing methods of grain and cooking methods of food in the Han Dynasty by using documents,archaeological objects and murals in Han tombs.After analysis and examination,people in the south-central region of Inner Mongolia during the two Han dynasties were mainly fed with cereals and grains,with meat and other products as side dishes.In contrast to the meat-based diet of the pre-qin period,the variety of diet increased,the utensils were rich and varied,and the food processing technology and cooking methods were greatly improved.The food customs were different from those of the upper nobility and the common people.The diet culture of Han dynasty in the central and southern area of Inner Mongolia was formed by the interaction and fusion of local ethnic groups,and it was also the beginning of the development of the diet culture with local characteristics. |
