| With the rapid development of social economy and the continuous rapid increase of urban population today,urban domestic waste has increased sharply.Sanitation and environmental maintenance therefore become particularly important in which the sanitation workers are making a great contribution.Despite the popularization of mechanized sweeping,sanitation workers in recently years are still in extreme need.Especially under the epidemic situations,sanitation workers have to work two times longer for more than before,and they are prone to be exposed against the infected wastes.These working models should have enjoyed people ’ respects,but are misunderstood due to the work they engage in and suffer from social marginalization.They cannot get esteemed and have to bear torment from both the work itself and the social stigmatization.With the feeling of not accepted and respected,sanitation workers cannot devote themselves into the work,and thus get tired or even resign.Against the backdrop of this phenomenon,this paper explores how the sanitation workers’ filthy sense of occupation affect their work.A large statedowned enterprise in the field of environmental protection is chosen for the investigation;a well-established scale is adopted to carry out a questionnaire survey on the sanitation workers three times,and 538 valid questionnaires are obtained.For data analysis,SPSS26.0 is used to verify reliability and validity of the data,and to carry out descriptive analysis and hypothesis testing.Last,a conclusion is given based on the verification results to put forward the theoretical contribution and significance in practice.Limitations are also discussed,and the research prospect is put forward.This paper has three main conclusions: First,sanitation workers have a dual filthy sense of the occupation in both the work itself and occupational stigmatization.These two factors affect workers’ devotion to their job differently,in which the sense of occupational stigmatization influence work devotion through the mechanism of social respect while the sense of filthy occupation does not.Second,social respect plays a full role between the the sense of occupational stigmatization and work devotion.Third,the sense of filthy occupation modulates the sense of occupational stigmatization in terms of social respect,and the sense of occupational stigmatization affects the intermediation of work devotion through social respect;when the sense of filthy occupation is slight,the sense of occupational stigmatization has a worse effect on social respect,and its mediating effect on work devotion through social respect becomes more evident.This research has the following innovation with contributions: First,a dual sense of filthy occupation among the sanitation workers are highlighted,and effects of such a dual sense on the workers are considered,which is more comprehensive than the single study only on the sense of filthy occupation or the sense of occupational stigmatization.Second,effects of the sense of filthy occupation on work devotion are verified from the viewpoint of social respect,which enriches researches on the influencing mechanism of the sense of filthy occupation.Third,the regulating effect of the sense of filthy occupation on the sense of occupational stigmatization is verified based on a uniform cognition,including the effect on social respect and the mediating effect of social respect on work devotion,thus supplementing the research on the sense of filthy occupation.In addition,the quantitative research on sanitation workers in this study enriches the study situation of filthy occupation,also expands the research methods.Management suggestions in terms of the above issues are proposed: From the viewpoint of a uniform cognition on the sense of filthy occupation,enterprises in the field of environment protection should improve the working environment and conditions so as to reduce sanitation workers ’ negative cognition on cleankeeping.Meanwhile,efforts should be made to improve the negative social understanding of clean-keeping,thus providing a good working atmosphere for the workers.Besides,training of psychological cognition should be offered to help the workers enhance their devotion in clean-keeping,and make more contributions to the enterprise. |
