With the rapid development of dairy industry in Hohhot,it plays an important role in ensuring the supply of fresh milk and milk products in urban and rural areas, increasing the income of local farmers, and stimulating the rural economy. However, with the acceleration of large-scale and intensive process of dairy cattle, the amount of cow manure emissions increased significantly. How to properly deal with the manure has become a common problem faced by large-scale dairy farms. At present,Hohhot advocates the resource utilization of livestock and poultry manure. In order to realize the green and sustainable development of dairy industry,we need to consider the economic benefits of the resource utilization of manure.Different breeding scale dairy farms choose different modes of the resource utilization of manure, and the economic benefits of the resource utilization are quite different. Therefore, this paper discusses the influence of the scale of dairy farming on the economic benefits of the resource utilization of manure This key role depends on the choice of different modes of utilization of manure.Based on the field survey data of 89 large-scale dairy farms in Hohhot, this paper calculates the economic benefits of manure resource utilization under different breeding scale and different resource utilization modes, and uses the intermediary effect model to explore the influence mechanism of dairy farming scale on the economic benefits of manure resource utilization. The main conclusions are as follows:first, all kinds of resource utilization modes are in a state of net loss, and the degree of net loss of each mode from large to small is as follows: entrust others to consume, give away, sell, utilize biogas, combine agriculture and animal husbandry, and produce cow mattress materials.Second,small-scale dairy farms are mainly based on the combination of agriculture and animal husbandry, while other scale dairy farms are mainly based on the mode of entrusting others to absorb.Third, through the horizontal comparison of dairy farms with different breeding scale,it is found that the relationship between breeding scale and average net loss of cattle presents an inverted "U" shape;through the vertical comparison,it is found that the main cost sources of manure treatment in dairy farms are labor cost in small and medium scale, and depreciation cost of manure treatment equipment in large and super large scale.Fourth, there was a significant negative correlation between the scale of breeding and the economic benefits of the utilization of manure resources. The coefficient product method showed that the combined mediating effect of independent production of cow mattress, combination of agriculture and animal husbandry and entrusting others to consume was 73.36%,which was greater than the total mediating effect of each mode of 49.99%.Therefore,it is suggested to formulate different resource utilization policies according to different breeding scale, cultivate organic fertilizer market and improve market supervision system, improve subsidy system to guide social capital integration.
