| The report of the 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China(CPC)points out that "Efforts should be made to promote green,circular and low-carbon development,and to form a spatial pattern,industrial structure,mode of production and way of life that is resource-saving and environment-friendly." In the stage of highquality economic development,how to realize the dual goals of strengthening pollution prevention and control and enhancing enterprises’ independent innovation ability has gradually become a topic of common concern to governments at all levels,entrepreneurs and scholars.To promote green development and enhance regional independent innovation capacity,we need to establish a unified and integrated market,remove the adverse factors that hinder the free flow of factors,and improve the efficiency of resource allocation.In 2018,the State Council issued a document stressing the need to gradually build a new model of "Central cities leading urban agglomeration development and urban agglomeration driving regional development" to promote the integrated development of major regions in the country.However,the existing literature has not yet reached a consistent conclusion on the causal relationship between regional integration and green innovation.Taking prefecture-level and above cities in China’s urban agglomerations from2006 to 2017 as research samples,this paper describes the level of regional integration from the perspectives of market integration and economic connection.The degree of market integration at the urban level is measured by the classification index of consumer price index,and the degree of economic connection is measured based on the gravity model of urban economy.At the same time,the index system of urban green innovation is constructed by using entropy weight method,and the causal relationship between regional integration and urban green innovation and its mechanism are identified systematically.The benchmark results show that regional integration can significantly enhance the green innovation capacity of cities.After controlling for the related variables and overcoming endogeneity by the instrumental variable method,the above conclusions are still valid.Further analysis shows that regional integration has a significant positive spatial correlation.Regional integration can strengthen the spatial spillover effect of urban green innovation and improve the level of green innovation in surrounding cities.The intermediate mechanism test shows that regional integration will promote urban green innovation through increasing foreign direct investment,promoting local financial development and strengthening economic agglomeration.Compared with the existing literature,the marginal contribution of this paper is mainly manifested in the following three aspects: from the point of research data,the existing literature from the degree of market integration to depict more regional integration level,this article from the degree of market integration and the urban economic ties two aspects set out to identify the influence on urban green innovation level of regional integration,improve the reliability of the research conclusion.From the research perspective,economic impact on the regional integration of the existing literature to investigate more(such as the Yangtze river delta region)in a certain area as the research object,this paper takes the urban agglomeration contained city as the research sample to identify the influence of the regional integration of green innovation,widen the research category of regional integration,further enrich the theory of regional integration.From the research significance,the research conclusion of this paper further confirmed the positive role of green innovation of regional integration,thus to strengthen prevention and control of environmental pollution,improve the ability of regional green innovation provides an effective practice,to implement the strategy of regional integration in our country,which provides a new theoretical support to strengthen the construction of urban agglomeration. |
