As a subset and an important part of the Internet of Things(Io T),related research of the Vehicle Ad-hoc Network(VANET)is an important part of the future Intelligent Transportation System(ITS)and Smart City, and it is also the reliability guarantee of self-driving technology.VANET communication technology mainly refers to the communication technology between vehicles equipped with communication equipments, and the VANET’s communication nodes, namely the vehicles have some characteristics such as high mobility and mass, which makes VANET different from the traditional mobile ad-hoc network. It has unique network characteristics and communication requirements,so the research of routing protocols has always been the top priority of VANET research. In the current research on VANET,especially the routing protocol in VANET,the existing work is certainly rich, but there are also relatively weak points. For example,in the analysis of Internet of Vehicle routing performance, researchers often only analyze a simplified scenario, which cannot characterize the various characteristics of VANET,which is not convincing;in addition, the individual or group characteristics of vehicles as communication nodes are very wide, while its features have not yet been dug deeply and used wisely in the design of communication technology. Therefore, this paper establishes some more reliable scenarios for the study of VANET routing protocol performance, which fully reflects the characteristics of vehicles, such as topology dynamic changes, trajectory predictability, cluster isotropy, etc. This article selects excellent and improved versions from the existing typical protocols of VANET,introduces the working principles of various protocols and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of the protocols from a theoretical perspective, comprehensively evaluates these routing protocols, and points out their possible developing directions. Then, this paper proposes a prototype of a routing protocol that uses vehicle destinations as a basis for clustering. Finally, the analyzed protocols were applied to the established VANET communication performance analysis scenarios, and full simulation verification was conducted to analyze the impact of various vehicle characteristics on these protocols’ performance. And the result shows that with the use of vehicle path planning information as clustering basis, the proposed routing protocol performs better in specific scenarios. The research significance of this paper is that it can analyze the advantages and disadvantages and application directions of VANET routing protocol from a design point of view, and it proposes a routing algorithm that uses rarely noticed vehicle path planning information as clustering basis. Moreover,it establishes a vehicle networking communication system and a matching simulation system that are rich in scenarios and can reflect the different vehicle characteristics of VANET,and apply real traffic data to the scene, which has more simulation and persuasion.
