| Urban public space is an important location to meet the needs of urban residents’ public life and outdoor activities.Its reasonable planning and design can effectively beautify the urban environment,improve the urban ecology.At the same time,it can better show the city’s cultural features and meet the needs of residents’ daily life.As an important metric to measure the quality of urban public space,the level of landscape activity can effectively reflect the utility level of urban public space in the public life of residents.Through exploring the construction and representation of landscape activity of various public spaces,this study explores the promotion strategies of urban public space landscape activity,and provides strategic reference and suggestions for the promotion of urban public space landscape activity in the future,in order to better meet the new demands of future urban development and public life of citizens.As a famous historical and cultural city as well as a livable city,Liaocheng has abundant public space resources and a wide variety of species,and has a distinctive composition and representation of landscape activity,which provides good supports for the practical implementation of this study.Three typical types of public space,park,square and greenway,are selected as the main contents of the research.Six places including Liaocheng Park are used as the main data collection sites.Therefore,the diversity of urban public spaces in Liaocheng can guarantee the comprehensiveness and effectiveness of the research.Based on the relevant theory of urban public space,this study performed a field survey combined with specific public space samples,to achieve the exploration of public space activity.After that,promotion strategies to enhance the activity of public space were proposed.This paper consists of six chapters.In the first chapter,the background,purpose and significance of the research are described in detail.The research progress at home and abroad is summarized in detail,and the research methods and basic framework are introduced.The second chapter explains the basic concepts of urban public space and landscape activity.Three types of public space are defined namely park,square and greenway.And three related theories including environment-behavior theory,Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and location theory were introduced and interpreted.In addition,the landscape activity was elaborated from two perspectives i.e.“construction” and “representation”.The construction of landscape activity is refined into five elements: location,nature,space,facility and culture.Meanwhile,the representation of landscape activity is divided into four aspects: user characteristics,activity time,activity form and space cognition.On these basis,the investigation targets are confirmed.In the third chapter,the relevant scientific theories are used as the basic guidance,and several practical projects are used as the blueprints.Three types of public space are screened out in Liaocheng City,each of which has two target sites.Then,long-term observation and sample collection are carried out.In the fourth chapter,through the selection and analysis of the samples,the differences between the two classification perceptive are summarized under three spatial types of landscape activity.In the fifth chapter,combining the field research results with the empirical evidences from the literature,the promotion strategies for improving the level of landscape activity in urban public space,including five basic principles and fourteen specific measures.Finally,the sixth chapter summarizes the conclusion of the research. |
