Study On Correlations Of Window Construction In Jiangnan Traditional Residence

Window construction is an important part of the building process and the primary factor which forms the comfortable living environment.Due to the special climatic element and human condition in Jiangnan,there is pretty rich experience and wisdom among the traditional residence in this region.This thesis closely related to the keyword “window construction”,consider it in the whole interface by a historical perspective.On the basic of a large number of investigation in traditional residential remains,this thesis explores the correlation factors.Apart from the introduction and conclusion,this thesis consists of into three parts:a.In the first chapter,different types of traditional residence in Jiangnan are classified based on architectural form,living environment and living mode,and so on.The background and the overview of the window construction are summarized systematically to extract the correlation factors that affect the window construction.b.Chapters 2,3 and 4 are the main parts of the research.The research is based on field surveys of extant classical traditional residence in the Jiangnan,combined with literature study.In terms of relevance,different needs of the living space and purpose,environmental elements or usage patterns of different spaces are analyzed in different cases,by the three different levels of architecture function,climate environment and human activities.The certain regularity is put forward in this way.c.In the fifth chapter,window construction of Jiangnan traditional residence is compared with that in Circum-Bohai-Sea region and Pearl River Delta,considering it into a more macroscopic geographical environment.Their similarities and differences are summarized.Through the collection and analysis of the first-hand cases and data,the understanding of the traditional residential window construction rather than the window itself is deepened.The related elements of window construction and the setting rules under the influence of different elements are summarized systematically while the traditional wisdom and experience are revealed.Compared with the window construction of the traditional residence in other developed regions,the feature of window construction in Jiangnan is analyzed more deeply,which provides the basis and reference for the repair,protection and scientific inheritance of traditional dwelling in the Jiangnan region.The thesis includes about 56,000 words,148 pictures and 11 tables.
