| The penetration of the PV system into the electrical network requires reasonable control to ensure the proper functioning of the system. Thus, the quality of power injected into the grid must be investigated. This thesis examined the control of active power and reactive power of the photovoltaic(PV)connected to the utility grid.A prototype 60kW PV system was fabricated and tested;the system consists of the PV array, the inverter, filter, and the utility grid. The inverter executes the maximum power point tracking task as well as injecting the desired power to the utility grid.Active and reactive power control is achieved by controlling the current quantities in the dqO reference frame. Two operation modes are discussed;the first one implicated the injection of active power to the grid at unity power factor that means the reactive power is set to zero, and in the second mode, the reactive power is produced to support the utility grid. The efficacity of the proposed control methods is simulated under Matlab Simulink 2019b. |
