To meet this increasing demand of power need our resources are not enough and our power generation methods is a hazard to the environment as well,The world is now shifting towards the available renewable and clean energy resources such as solar energy. To switch from conventional way to the modern way of generating power some necessary changes are taken in to consideration and Engineers are finding best possible ways to make either stand-alone or hybrid an effcient and undisrupted system.Grid-connected photovoltaic systems are providing a viable technology for producing electrical energy by using renewable energy resources.High power density, high efficiency and reliability for this system are important design considerations along with control objectives like Maximum power point tracking(MPPT),grid synchronization and prevention, sinusoidal current inj ection into the grid and active harmonic filtering. In this thesis, the designing of a grid-connected photovoltaic power converter system has been carried out.The relevant topics, literature regarding the elements in a photovoltaic system, grid connection standards have been studied and reviewed.A system designing technique called Model Based Design is utilized through which the designed model has been used to generate code and then the code has been fed into the system controller.A system, with the capacity and ratings of 600 W solar modules has been designed in Simulink with the array having maximum power point voltage of 109.5 V.The designed system in a multistage system.Perturb and Observe technique has been chosen for maximum power point technique due to its reasonable tracking. The DC-DC converter determined for the application of MPPT technique,is also used for the purpose of boosting the incoming PV voltage significantly. The inverter used is a three-phase two-level inverter due to its simple design and implementation. The control structure for inverter has been designed in synchronous reference frame as good performance in the voltage and current control can be achieved by using PI controllersPhase Locked Loop technique has been used for grid synchronization in the Simulink model.Phase Locked Loop PLL extracts the necessary information of grid voltage phase. The grid has a Line to Line voltage of 400Vrms.An LCL filter is used to interconnect inverter output to the grid. After that the results of the designed simulation obtained during many stages to show the performance of the proposed system.Hardware specific models are then made for code generation using the Embedded Coder feature of Simulink. In the end, discussion about this thesis, conclusion and recommendations for future work are presented.
