With the development of Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks(VANETs)and cloud computing, there have been numerous services for vehicle users, which have improved traffic safety and efficiency and created a comfortable riding environment and pleasant driving experience for users. However,as more and more vehicles join VANETs,road resources become less and less, and changes in road conditions lead to changes in vehicle users’ demand for services. At the same time, the amount of data generated and processed by vehicles is also increasing dramatically.Because the cloud server’s data center is deployed far away from VANETs,a large amount of data brings computing pressure to the cloud server,so there will be bandwidth consumption, delay, high computing cost, information security risks and other problems.Cloud-based fog computing is a very important technology, which can reduce the data transmission delay, bandwidth consumption and high computing cost caused by cloud server when processing data.High performance and high safety are important factors in the development of VANETs.Since vehicle data is transmitted over an open channel, making VANETs more vulnerable to potential attacks.Authentication and key agreement protocol can provide user identity authentication, encryption transmission and other security features, well protect the security of communication content and the privacy of communication entities, has a good prospect and research significance in the field of information security. In VANETs,the authentication and key agreement protocol based on fog computing not only brings convenience to intelligent transportation, but also provides protection for data security and privacy of vehicle users. Therefore, the authentication and key agreement protocol of VANETs based on fog computing has become one of the important contents of Intelligent Transportation System(ITS).In this dissertation,we study fog-based authentication and key agreement protocol in VANETs.The specific work contents and contributions are as follows:(1)Cryptanalysis of some existing protocols. The specific content is an attack on the key agreement protocol based on fog computing in VANETs environment proposed by Ma et al.This paper presents an attack on Jia et al.’s key authentication protocol based on fog computing applied to intelligent medical system.(2)A fog-based authentication and key agreement protocol in VANETs is proposed. This protocol first authenticates the identity of the participating entity, and then negotiates the session key to encrypt the subsequent session content.Improving road conditions and driving services while ensuring the security of vehicle data and the privacy of vehicle users.(3)We first demonstrate the correctness of our proposed protocol by BurrowsAbadi-Needham(BAN)logic.The security of our protocol is proved by formal proof in the Real-or-Random(Ro R)model, informal proof, and Pro Verif,a security verification software. Finally, the comparisons are shown that our proposed protocol has a better security and performance than existing protocols.
