At present, accident procedure is mainly divided into paper accident procedure and digital procedure according to the presentation carrier in nuclear power plant. In the process of using paper accident procedures, some factors may lead to human errors, such as large size, large quantity and inconvenient confirmation. With the improvement of computer technology and automation level, the accident procedure also upgrades to digital procedure in advanced main control room.In the world, the application of digital procedure has become one of the important symbols of advanced main control room.Information system for accident-procedures is a newly portable digital procedure. It provides a convenient for operator using procedures in simulation main control room. But it also bring about new problems of human factor. Some operators reflected arms fatigue obviously after using the information system for accident-procedures and the function of the system is too much that attracts the most attention of the operator, etc. It is expected to have a significant impact on the operator’s workload.Workload is the most direct factor which affects personnel reliability after an accident.Excessive workload will seriously affect the physical health and mental health of operators. It could reduce human reliability, lead to human errors and seriously threat the safety of nuclear power plant. However, there is no systematic research on the information system for accident-procedures in China,so it is necessary to study the influence of the information system for accident-procedures on the operator’s workload. Therefore, paper procedures and procedure information system were used as independent variables to simulate operators performing accident handling tasks with two procedures under accident scenarios in this paper. The workload of the operator during task execution was taken as dependent variable to evaluate the physiological and psychological load of the operator by using surface electromyography measurement technology and subjective scale respectively.Analyzed the physiological by observing the operator’s behavior in the experiment, investigating the operator’s usage perception and measuring the surface EMG data.Analyzed the psychological load by using NASA-TLX scale. The time of the accident processing is considered as performance and sart scale was used to evaluate situational awareness of the operators at the same time.According to the relationship between mental load and situation as well as the relationship between workload and job performance,it is further verified that the mental load and workload level brought by the current procedure information system to the operator is appropriate or not.The experimental results show that the information system increase the operator’s workload and decline the performance and situation awareness. The main reasons are shown as follows: 1.The information system for accident-procedures changes the behavior pattern of the operator, and the high weight of the regulation terminal increases the physiological load of the operator.2.High physical-load increasing the resources of attention which allocated to the manipulators leads to high psychological load.3.The operator is not proficient in the procedure information system, and the interface management task consumes the operator’s attention resources, which increases the psychological load.4.The hardware and software adaptation of the regulation mobile terminal. It is expected that the work load of operators can be significantly reduced and the work performance and human reliability can be improved by the targeted optimization of the system and the strengthening of operator training in nuclear power plant.
