The propulsion power of large cruise ships mostly adopts electric propulsion system.As the power source of the entire cruise ship,it has the characteristics of high power and high integration.When designing the electric propulsion system of the cruise ship,it is necessary to consider its ability under various working conditions.However,some important working conditions are difficult to actually measure through experiments.At this time,system simulation methods can be used to explore the performance changes of large cruise electric propulsion systems under these working conditions.Based on a large Vista-class cruise ship,this paper studies the composition of its electric propulsion system and the basis for the selection of key equipment.Analyzed the composition and operation principle of each key subsystem,established mathematical model based on its principle,and established simulation model of each subsystem based on MATLAB/Simulink software,mainly including generator sets,transformers,frequency converters,pod propellers,Cruise ship handling and wind and wave interference model.The direct torque frequency conversion control method of three-phase synchronous motor is studied,and it is extended to six-phase synchronous motor,and the control model of propulsion motor is established.According to the separation modeling idea,the force of a large cruise ship with double pod propellers is analyzed,and a cruise ship’s handling model is established.At the same time,a wind and wave interference module is added to make the model closer to the actual ship operating environment.Operational data validates the manipulation model.According to the operating principle of the electric propulsion system,a simulation model of the electric propulsion system of a large cruise ship is established by integrating the models of various subsystems.Using this model,the changes of force and torque on the cruise ship in various directions are studied when the cruise ship is in the slewing maneuvering experiment and the Z-shaped maneuvering experiment,and the basic performance parameters such as frequency,power and torque of the generator set and propulsion motor are given.At the same time,a solution to avoid excessive fluctuations in motor load when turning is given.Then,by changing the level of wind and waves when the cruise ship is sailing,the simulation is carried out to study the influence of wind and waves on the operation of the electric propulsion system.The results show that the wind and waves mainly affect the navigation posture of the cruise ship.When the wind and waves are too strong,the cruise ship is easily destabilized,and the wind and waves will also affect the propeller.The load torque affects the stability of the ship’s power system.It is necessary to plan the cruise ship’s operating routes to avoid extreme sea conditions that affect safety.
