Long-span steel pedestrian bridges are usually constructed by high-strength and light-weight materials,which are large flexibility and low damping,so they are extremely sensitive to human-induced load excitation.And the large vibrations human-induced greatly reduce the pedestrian comfort and durability of the pedestrian bridge.As we know,people use the principle of damping energy dissipation to suppress the vibration of footbridges.Damping is the dissipation of structural energy caused by friction between components,external media of the structure,deformation of solid materials,etc.Therefore,the amplitude of the structure is gradually reduced for damping.What’s more,the existence of damping in actual engineering can reduce motion.This paper proposes a damped Single-side Pounding Tuned Mass Damper(SS-PTMD).This study is based on a large-span steel pedestrian bridge,and the study concerned with the dynamic characteristics including frequency ratio and damping ratio of the damped SS-PTMD;research on the frequency ratio and damping ratio on the performance of damping;parameter optimization design,and simulation and experiment of damping for pedestrian bridges.(1)The research overview of PTMD and SS-PTMD are summarized,and the research content and significance of the paper are clarified.(2)Discuss several classic pounding force models and their characteristics;Select the pounding force model which is suitable for damped SS-PTMD and identify the parameters of the model.(3)Derive the expressions of the frequency characteristic and equivalent damping ratio of the dynamic characteristics parameter of the damped SS-PTMD theoretically,and evaluate the dynamic characteristics parameters of the SS-PTMD system under free and forced vibration by numerical analysis.(4)The coupling motion equation of single-degree-of-freedom structure and damped SS-PTMD system was established,and the influence of frequency ratio and damping ratio on the vibration control of the main structure was explored by numerical analysis methods.Optimal suggestions were proposed for practical projects.And Simulation analysis of vibration reduction of SS-PTMD with damping under single person continuous jumping load excitation.(5)Based on a large-span steel pedestrian bridge,an on-site vibration reduction experiment was conducted to analyze the damping effect of SS-PTMD with different masses under continuous single jump excitation.
