As the long-term operating costs and social impacts of infrastructure have been more and more valued,the idea of the life cycle economic analysis has gradually deepened in the economical comparison and selection of pavement projects.As an indispensable part of road engineering,life cycle economic analysis should also be carried out in the steel bridge deck pavement to improve the efficiency of social capital.However,due to the current domestic research focusing on the material development and structural optimization of steel bridge deck pavement,not much attention has been paid to the life cycle economics of steel bridge deck paving structures,resulting in a great waste of social resources.Based on the unique structural and management characteristics of typical steel deck pavements,this study carried out a full life cycle economic study of such pavements.Firstly,based on a comparison between typical steel deck pavement and ordinary asphalt pavement,an amendment to the range of life cycle economic analysis and a calculation model of some economic components is proposed.The life-cycle economics of the typical steel deck pavement structure should include the life-cycle costs within which the construction costs(net of residual value),maintenance costs,indirect economic losses,vehicle operating costs and time delay costs are included as well as the cost distribution.Relationship between the cost of each item and the performance of a typical steel bridge deck structure is mapped.The common life-cycle economic analysis methods are summarized and the net present value method is selected for research.Secondly,the common methods for the study of the performance of the pavement structure are analyzed,and the mathematical model of the pavement quality index,the international flatness index and the anti-sliding performance index of the typical steel bridge pavement structure is established with the combine of the function fitting method and the Markov method.The effect of repair and maintenance methods on the performance of typical steel bridge deck structure is quantified.Finally,the uniform method was used to design representative traffic conditions,and the life cycle economy of each typical steel deck pavement structure was calculated and analyzed.The uncertainty of the calculation result by Monte Carlo simulation was less than 0.1,thereby the result of the calculation is considered as sound.ESALs is found the most important factor that affects the economic life of a typical steel bridge deck pavement structure in the study.The user cost accounts for more than 30% of the total life cycle cost of the pavement structure under specific conditions whose significance should not be ignored.The overall characteristics of the life cycle economy of a typical steel deck pavement structure are that under light-load traffic,the GA system has a better life cycle economy.Correspondingly,under heavy-load traffic,the economic life of the EA system is better.What has to be illustrated is that,several simplifying methods have been used in this paper,and the individuated characteristics of the objects in the survey,as well as the simplification of the traffic will all introduce deflection to the accuracy of the LCCA method of typical steel deck pavements that will be left for further discussion.
