Our country is a unified multi-ethnic country. The cultures of 56 ethnic groups blended together to form a diverse and unified Chinese nation..As a member of the Baiyue ethnic groups, the Dong has formed an architectural form that highlights the diverse folk customs and deep cultural connotations of the Dong under its unique habitat system. As an intangible cultural heritage, the wood construction skills of the Dong people condense the memory of the Dong people’s architecture and history.Under the background of attaching great importance to the prosperity and development of ethnic culture, studying the metaphors in the architectural ceremonies of the Dong has important theoretical and practical significance for the inheritance of ethnic culture, the strengthening of national identity and forming a strong community of the Chinese nation. The thesis takes Dimu Village,Maogong Township,Liping County,Guizhou Province as the research object. It sorts out journals and books related to Dong architecture, conceptual metaphor theory and related research in recent years. It uses literature reading, field research, individual interviews, and case studies.Analytical method for data collection of research.Dimen Village,Maogong Township,Liping County,is the second largest Dong Village after Zhaoxing.Through an in-depth investigation of its geographic location and historical evolution,Dong Village population distribution, livelihoods, and material and intangible culture, the Dimen Village was discovered. The village’s Dong culture is well preserved. The traditional self-sufficient livelihoods follow the village symbiosis model of uniting and friendly neighbors. The Dong song and Dong opera, and architectural construction techniques are passed down from generation to generation. As an indispensable link in the completion of a building, the architectural construction ceremony has a special metaphorical significance in the Dong people. In the introduction, this thesis introduces the research status of Dong architecture and construction rituals at home and abroad. The first chapter introduces the specific situation of Dimen Village through field investigation in Dimen Village,Maogong Township,Liping County.Chapters 2 to 4 analyze the metaphors of the architectural construction rituals. Each chapter begins with an introduction to the three types of conceptual metaphor theories.According to Lakoff and Johnson ’ s classification of metaphors, from structural metaphors, ontological metaphors and locational metaphors The three types of metaphors reveal the symbolic meaning behind the architectural rituals of the Dong. The various elements of the Dong’s ritual construction go beyond the ritual process itself, and are the concrete embodiment of the Dong’s cognition and concept.Through the various metaphors hidden in the architectural rituals of the Dong,it is concluded that rituals are the condensing of metaphors, rituals are metaphors for social reality, and ethnic cohesion is also strengthened through rituals.Through the metaphor analysis of the Dong’s architectural construction rituals in Qiandongnan Prefecture,it can be found that Dimen Village can still maintain its original ethnic identity under the trend of the development of ethnic culture. The rapid development of modern society has not dilute the essence of Dong culture. The inheritance, innovation, and activation of non-material cultures such as Dong’s architectural construction techniques and construction ceremonies are not only a symbol of highlighting ethnic characteristics, but also an important support for enhancing ethnic identity, and also an important resource for enhancing the country’s cultural soft power.
