The development of polar resources and the opening and utilization of Arctic routes are of great significance,which urgently needs the equipment support of polar ships.However,ships sailing in polar ice regions will inevitably collide with sea ice.Therefore,in order to ensure the efficiency and safety of ship navigation,it is of great significance to accurately predict icebreaking resistance and study the safe navigation of polar ships.In this paper,the nonlinear explicit dynamics solver LS-DYNA is used to analyze and study the dynamic response of ships colliding with level ice.The main contents are as follows:(1)Analyze the physical and mechanical properties of sea ice,describe the motion and failure modes of ice during ship ice collision,and summarize commonly used empirical models for ice load prediction.(2)Based on the ALE algorithm,the validity of the constitutive model of sea ice material selected in this paper is verified by the numerical simulation of the three-point bending test.A ship-ice-water coupling numerical model is further established,and the reliability of the calculation model is verified under the premise of ensuring mesh convergence,and the error can be guaranteed within 10%.(3)The changes of sea ice material parameters have an important influence on the prediction of ice load and the study of level ice damage.In this paper,the effects of the elastic modulus,thickness and tensile strength of level ice on the damage of level ice during ship ice collision are analyzed during the collision between the ship and the level ice on the premise of considering the shear failure of level ice,and the influence law of the change of ice material parameters on the ice breaking resistance of the ship is obtained.(4)The bow shape design of a polar ship is an important factor to measure its good performance.This paper studies the influence of changes in the bow angle and waterline angle parameters of the hull on the ice breaking resistance and level ice damage.In addition,the influence of ship speed and ice thickness as variables on the energy absorption and ice breaking resistance of the ship’s bow structure during ice collision is analyzed.The analysis results can provide a reference for the safety design of the ship’s structure.
