Research On Fully-printed Low-cost Dye-sensitized Solar Cells

Abstract/Summary:
Dye-sensitized solar cells are a new type of solar cell.Compared with the most widely used silicon-based solar cells,dye-sensitized solar cells have the advantages of low cost,less pollution,and higher photoelectric conversion efficiency under weak light conditions has broad application prospects.Although the current technology of dye-sensitized solar cells is relatively mature,it is still in the laboratory stage and has no large-scale commercial application.The main reason is that dye-sensitized solar cells with high photoelectric conversion efficiency are all with liquid electrolytes,which are not easy to encapsulate and the electrolyte is easy to leak and volatilize,resulting in a short life of dye-sensitized solar cells and is greatly affected by environmental factors.In this paper,low-cost materials are selected,the semiconductor photoanode,dye,electrolyte,counter electrode and the sealing of the dye-sensitized solar cells are prepared by screen printing.The process is simplified and the cost is indirectly reduced.The quasi-solid printable electrolyte also overcomes the shortcomings of liquid electrolytes to a certain extent.The main research contents are as follows:1.Screen printing is a common method for preparing semiconductor photoanodes and counter electrodes,and by adding thickeners to dyes and electrolytes,they can also be turned into screen-printable pastes so as to realize the full screen printing preparation of dye-sensitized solar cells.Analyzing the shear force and viscosity of the paste,it is found that pastes with good printability will also have different shear force and viscosity due to different thickeners.2.A dye-sensitized solar cell with fully-screen-printed and certain flexibility is prepared by using low-cost materials and the ethanol extract of dry hibiscus flower as a dye.And since hibiscus does not react with water,water as an electrolyte solvent has better conductivity than organic solvent electrolytes.The prepared dye-sensitized solar cell with the best performance has an open circuit voltage(V)of 0.65V,a short-circuit current density(J)of 90μA/cm2,and a fill factor(FF)of 0.241.3.A full-screen printing dye-sensitized solar cell was prepared by using a high-performance dye-N719 dissolved in ethanol.The prepared dye-sensitized solar cell with the best performance has an open circuit voltage(V)of 0.42V,a short-circuit current density(J)of 391μA/cm2,and a fill factor(FF)of 0.403.The absorbance of the N719 dissolved in ethanol is higher than that of ethanol extract of dry hibiscus flower,and the transmittance is similar.It proves to a certain extent that the performance of the N719 dye is better than the ethanol extract of dry hibiscus flower.
