There is a complex aerodynamic disturbance in the separation process of the shelling projectile.The separation process will have a greater impact on the stability and combat performance of the missile body.In this thesis,the shelling projectile with a certain diameter is taken as the research object.The structural design of the shelling projectile is firstly carried out.Then,based on the theoretical knowledge of computational fluid dynamics and hulling kinetics,the process of in-depth research and analysis of the aerodynamic characteristics of the shelling projectile during air movement immediately after exiting the muzzle.First,after researching the methods of multi-body separation motion problems,the computational fluid governing equations and six-degree-of-freedom rigid body motion equations and related discrete solving methods are introduced,and a brief introduction features of the solver Star-CCM+ and polyhedral unstructured cutting volume mesh used in this article.Secondly,according to the shelling mechanism and actual requirements of the sub-caliber shelling projectile,the overall structural design composition diagram of the shelling shell is completed,which is composed of a pedestal,an elastic band,sabots and a projectile body,and a fixed pin is arranged between the pedestal and sabots.To connect,sabots can be flipped around the tail and it’s more helpful for the disengagement of the flap.Then,based on the multi-face unstructured cutting volume mesh technology and overlapping mesh technology,combined with the coupling of the air flow field and rigid body motion,the numerical simulation process of the sabots separation of the three-dimensional shelling projectile at different launch speeds is obtained and analyzed.The change law of displacement,velocity,attitude and aerodynamic force during the separation process are analyzed.And by comparing the simulation of the projectile without the sabot,it is found that the presence of the sabot has little effect on the movement of the projectile.On this basis,the movement attitude of the sabots separation in the field test is compared with the simulation results,and the simulation ability of this numerical simulation method is verified and confirmed.Finally,the sabots separation scheme of shelling projectiles with different numbers of petals,such as two and four petals,was further optimized,and the simulations were performed separately to obtain the change law at different number of petals,and found sabots separation effect is better when it has four sabots.
