In recent years,with the improvement of glass processing technology and the continuous research on the application of structural glass,glass has gradually been used as structural components(such as glass panels,beams,columns,stairs,etc.)in buildings.Glass panels have high in-plane shear strength and stiffness,and are capable of resisting in-plane horizontal loads.Therefore,glass panels have a good engineering application prospect as lateral force resistant components of building walls.The linear supported connection between glass panel and structural frame is usually formed by structural adhesive bonding.This connection form will affect the shear buckling behavior of glass panel due to the elastic restraint effect of structural adhesive.In this dissertation,experiments and finite element method(FEM)simulation were conducted to study the shear load-bearing performance of laminated glass panels elastically supported on two opposite sides.The main research work and achievements are as follows:(1)In-plane shear tests of 6 laminated glass panels elastically supported on two opposite sides were conducted.The shear capacity,stress distribution,buckling modes and failure modes of glass panels were measured.The influences of the in-plane constraint stiffness of the structural adhesives and glass type on the ultimate shear capacity and the deformation of glass panels under in-plane shear load were revealed.(2)Finite element analysis(FEA)model was established by Abaqus software.The FEA simulation for the glass panels were carried out.The stress distribution,shear capacity and load displacement of the laminated glass panels were obtained.The calculation results were in good agreement with the test results.The influences of the aspect ratio of glass panel,the in-plane constraint stiffness of the structural adhesives,as well as the geometric size and the elastic modulus of the setting block on the shear buckling of laminated glass panel elastically supported on two opposite sides were analyzed.The buckling behavior of laminated glass panel elastically supported on two opposite sides under in-plane shear load was clarified.(3)Based on the tests and FEM simulation,the calculation formulae for the shear buckling coefficient of laminated glass panels were proposed.The design curves of the shear capacity of laminated glass panels elastically supported on two opposite sides were established.The design suggestions of glass panel shear member and its connection with frame were put forward which can provide a reference for engineering applications.
