Conservation Research Of 1950-1999 Lingnan Modern Hotel Architectural Heritage

The development of modern architecture in Lingnan has combined western modernist architectural ideas with a natural climatic environment and traditional courtyard,which are widely used in hotel buildings.Its diversified value has been attached great importance,while many of the buildings have been listed in the "China 20 th Century Architectural Heritage List" as well as the provincial and municipal historical buildings.Since hotel buildings need to be preserved while continuing to function and adapt to rapid social change,they,therefore,have special characteristics in terms of conservation ideas,conservation contents,and conservation methods.How to maintain the authentic characteristics of Lingnan architecture while adapting to the new requirements of the new era is the main problem of modern hotel architectural heritage in Lingnan.This research compares relevant foreign conservation theories,conservation ideas,and conservation cases to summarize the present main conservation theories and methods for modern architectural heritage at home and abroad.Through the data combing and field investigation of nine Lingnan modern hotel architectural heritage,it summarizes the features of Lingnan modern hotel architecture in terms of functional layout,architectural shape,courtyard space,characteristic materials,etc.It also records the current situation and problems to analyze the core value elements of each hotel and propose the conservation ideas,conservation contents,conservation methods,and functional enhancement strategies for the architectural heritage of Lingnan modern hotels.The research is intended to be divided into six chapters to elaborate on the above research results.Chapter 1 is the introductory section of this paper,which mainly explains and defines the topic in several aspects,such as the definition of the research object,the research background,the research significance and purpose,the research method,and the research framework.Chapter 2 discusses the conservation theories and related conservation cases of modern architectural heritage at home and abroad.Chapter 3 makes a preliminary summary of the construction background,design ideas,and architectural features of the architectural heritage of Lingnan Hotel.Chapter 4 analyzes and summarizes the manifestations of the main features of Lingnan modern hotels based on the field survey of the architectural heritage of Lingnan modern hotels,as well as further analyzes the content and main causes of renovation and renewal.Chapter 5 analyzes the value elements and their composition about the architectural heritage of nine Lingnan modern hotels,and explores the historical,artistic,scientific,and social values contained in the value elements.Chapter 6 proposes a graded conservation strategy for the architectural heritage of Lingnan modern hotels,discusses the conservation methods for the functional layout,architectural shape,architectural environment,and courtyard space of the architectural heritage of Lingnan modern hotels with specific examples,as well as explores the renewal and enhancement measures for the main functions of the hotels and the construction methods for public participation in heritage conservation.
