Study On The Measurement Of Tourism Water Footprint In Arid Area And Its Decoupling Relationship With Tourism Economy

Abstract/Summary:
China’s arid areas lack of water resources,economic development lags behind,but tourism resources have very distinct characteristics.Tourism,as one of the pillar industries,plays an important role in overcoming poverty and maintaining stability in ethnic areas.However,while promoting regional economic development,tourism also increases the demand for water resources in the region,which greatly strengthens the contradiction between supply and demand of water resources in the region.Therefore,how to scientifically measure the water consumption and waste water discharge of tourism and objectively grasp the relationship between tourism water resources and tourism economic development in the region is of great significance for the sustainable utilization of tourism water resources and the coordinated development of tourism in the region.Based on the theory of water footprint,this paper selects Urumqi,Altay,Turpan and Bayinguleng Mongolia Autonomous Prefecture,which belong to arid region in Xinjiang,as the research cases,calculates the tourism water footprint of 4 research cases from the perspective of fresh water,indirect water footprint and grey water footprint.On this basis,it evaluates the utilization of tourism water resources and the pressure of tourism water resources,and analyzes its dynamic changes.Finally,based on tourism water footprint,the decoupling relationship between tourism water footprint and tourism economic growth is analyzed from a single perspective and a comprehensive perspective.The main research contents and conclusions are as follows:(1)According to the theory of water footprint,the tourism water footprint of 4cases from the perspective of fresh water,indirect water footprint and gray water footprint is calculated,and the characteristics of tourism water footprint in 4 cases over10 years are analyzed.The results are as follows:(1)The total amount of tourism water footprint in Urumqi,Altay,Turpan and Bazhou in 2009-2018 is on the rise,which reflects the pressure of various links of tourism activities on local tourism water resources.(2)According to the accounts of tourist water footprint,Urumqi accounts for the largest proportion of food and beverage water footprint,while Altay,Turpan and Bazhou areas account for the largest proportion of shopping water footprint,mainly because Urumqi as a tourist distribution center,the number of tourists,food and beverage links pressure,so the food and beverage water footprint is relatively high,while the other three cases GDP 10,000 yuan high water consumption,the production of dried fruit and other local products consumed more commodity water footprint,so the shopping water footprint is relatively large.(3)It is found that indirect water footprint is the largest and fresh water footprint is the smallest,indicating that indirect water footprint is the main form of water resources consumed by tourists.(2)Based on the calculation results of tourism water footprint,the per capita tourism water footprint,tourism water footprint intensity and pressure index of tourism water resources in four cases were calculated,and the dynamic changes of tourism water resources in 2009-2018 were analyzed.The results are as follows:(1)From the point of view of tourism water resources utilization,the per capita tourism water footprint and the intensity of tourism water footprint in 4 cases from 2009 to 2018 are all decreasing,indicating that the utilization efficiency of tourism water resources is gradually improving.(2)From the point of view of the pressure index of tourism water resources,the pressure index of tourism water resources in 4 cases from 2009 to 2018 shows a fluctuating upward trend,but the pressure index is less than 1,which indicates that the ecological security of tourism water resources in the case is more optimistic.(3)Based on the tourism water footprint,the decoupling relationship between tourism water footprint and tourism economic growth in four cases from a single perspective and a comprehensive perspective is analyzed,and the two perspectives are compared and analyzed.The results are as follows:(1)Except Turpan,the other three cases are mostly in a weak decoupling state and are mainly affected by the consumption of tourism water resources,mainly because the tourism blue and green water footprint accounts for a large proportion of the total tourism water footprint.Therefore,it directly determines the decoupling state of tourism water footprint and tourism economic development.(2)From the comparison of decoupling year,elasticity coefficient and decoupling index,it is concluded that the environmental decoupling of tourism water resources is the least ideal compared with that of tourism water resources consumption and tourism water environmental pollution in a single perspective,which is of more reference significance for regional tourism water resources management.On the basis of this study,the paper puts forward some suggestions for the management of tourism water resources in the case:(1)To improve the utilization efficiency of fresh water.(2)To reduce the consumption of indirect water resources.(3)To improve the treatment level of domestic sewage.(4)Adhere to the green industrialization mode of tourism.
